Life-saving coordination: A young girl’s journey to recovery

Nama Wellness Community Centre, located along the busy Kayunga Highway, serves as a vital first response facility for accident victims, demonstrating the importance of Uganda’s emergency medical network.

When a 6-year-old schoolgirl was severely injured in an accident, the team at Nama Wellness quickly assessed her condition and determined she needed intensive care. They immediately activated Uganda’s emergency services, ensuring she was transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital. After three days in a coma, she regained consciousness and underwent surgeries to correct accident-related deformities. Today, she’s back in her community and continues her education.

This story highlights how effective medical referral systems save lives, especially in rural areas. NAWEC remains a crucial link in Uganda’s healthcare system, ensuring timely access to specialized care.
