Community Health Workers (CHWs), a cradle for a strong health system in Uganda

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are NAWEC’s essential link to the communities in Nama sub-county. Since the COVID-19 lockdowns in May 2020, our team of 50 CHWs has registered 6,356 households, distributed over 1,000 COVID-19 educational materials, and provided care to 430 pregnant women. Trained in the National Curriculum, as well as in first aid, malaria rapid testing, and nutritional assessment, they play a crucial role in improving community health and disease prevention.
