Measles Vaccination Success Story: Community-Led Protection in Mukono District

In Mukono District, local health workers have made incredible strides, vaccinating 93% of children against measles—nearly 30,000 kids are now protected from this serious illness.

These dedicated workers visit homes, build trust with families, and connect parents to nearby health centers for measles vaccinations for children aged 9 months to 5 years. The impact is already visible. Parents feel relieved knowing their children are safe from measles, and community leaders are seeing healthier, happier children playing outside. Health centers are reporting fewer cases of this preventable disease.

With continued effort, the remaining 7% of children can also be vaccinated, turning Mukono District into a model for other areas across Uganda.
