FIELD VISIT BY AFRICA CDC’S BEHAVIORAL AND SOCIAL DATA ASSESSMENT TEAM

Africa CDC’s team conducted a comprehensive Capacity Assessment of Behavioral and Social Data (BeSD) Tools for Immunization, examining how behavioral insights integrate into vaccination programs across community and health facility settings. The assessment adopted a dual-setting approach, focusing on NAWEC HCIII community health centre, where evaluators observed grassroots initiatives and accompanied Community Health Workers during household visits, documenting vaccination tracking processes and family engagement strategies. The evaluation extended to Katoogo Health Centre III, a government partner facility, where the team analyzed service delivery frameworks and data utilization practices that support immunization outcomes.

The assessment demonstrated strong collaboration between community structures and the health system in addressing vaccine hesitancy and improving immunization coverage. This initiative, supported by Africa CDC, Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and Uganda’s Ministry of Health, positions participating organizations to strengthen community-driven immunization approaches based on evidence-based behavioral and social data integration.
