NAWEC ANNUAL REPORT 2023

Dear Friends, Partners and Supporters of Nama Wellness Community Centre (NAWEC)!

As we reflect on the achievements of the past year, and move towards celebrating ten years of impact in our community, I am pleased to present our annual report for 2023. It has been a year marked by growth, collaborations, and dedication to our mission of transforming community health systems through professionalized Community Health Workers who are integrated into the national healthcare system to achieve universal health coverage This 2023 annual report re-echoes our commitment to reducing the burden of disease and averting preventable deaths, particularly among women and children who often find themselves with limited access to traditional healthcare systems.

None of our achievements would have been possible without the invaluable support of our staff, partners and funders. I extend my deepest gratitude to CRI Foundation, Dovetail Impact Foundation, Crown Family Philanthropies, Segal Family Foundation, IZUMI Foundation, T&J Meyer Family Foundation, Gould Family Foundation, Dimagi, Community Health Impact Coalition, Stanford Center for Health Education and many others who have stood by us to make sure that even those at the periphery receive quality healthcare services at all times regardless of their geographical location.

As we work towards building a strong and resilient health system in Mukono district in collaboration with Community Health Workers (CHWs) who are at the forefront of this, leveraging their dedication and understanding of the challenges their communities face, and their knowledge of locally available resources hence strengthening community health systems to address barriers to healthcare access. Their efforts support implementation of clinical outreaches, strengthen government health facilities, and the NAWEC HCIII that serves as a training facility for CHWs and other frontline health workers.

Looking ahead, we are excited to share that the year 2024 is going to be a great one with the highlights of the year being celebration of NAWEC’s ten years of impact, systematically scaling our community health model to Kyampisi, Ntunda and Kimenyedde Sub counties, publishing our first research paper and strengthening in-country collaboration through the formation and strengthening of the in-country NGO Coalition.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership as we work together to build a stronger and resilient health system in Uganda.
